New Years Prayer

Here we are in 2009…we’ve made it through 2008. It was a year of extraordinary challenges; nevertheless, we survived. I’m grateful for the Grace and Mercy of God that followed me throughout 2008. And without a doubt, my faith has been summoned to trust Almighty God for a prosperous 2009. Yes, in spite of all that’s going on in America and the world…a recession, wall street catastrophe, wars, worldwide economic crisis, scandals, and most important, a new president! Shall we pray?

Heavenly Father,

I come to you now through faith in your Son, Jesus Christ, His righteousness, and His blood that gives me access to the throne room. Hallowed is your name from eternity. You are Creator God from everlasting to everlasting! You’re almighty, all knowing, all-powerful, and ever-present.

Thank you for your grace and mercy; your faithfulness and loving-kindness. You have preserved my life, the lives of my family members, and so many others in 2008. Yet, there are many who suffered the loss of family and friends, but as the God of all comfort, you are willing and able to console them and give them peace. So, Father, I ask now that you would remember those who are bereaved and have entered into 2009 hurting because of the pain of separation from loved one.

Father, I pray for the revelation f your unconditional love for those who feeling forgotten, unloved, and forsaken. I pray for supernatural strength in 2009 to carry us through the great challenges that are before us now as a nation. Let the Truth be revealed to the unbeliever, and give assurance to the skeptic.

Let this year be the year of maturity among the body of Christ so that love will be unfeigned and unity untainted by divisiveness. Let the desire for purity, peace, purpose and prosperity be motivated by our sincere devotion and commitment to living from your heart, and seeking your Kingdom.

Father, bless us that we may be a blessing to others as your witnesses. May our love for one another give evidence that Jesus is the Savior of the world, and that you sent him into the world to be the Light to dispel darkness.

Again, thank you for bringing into another year…
Lastly, I pray for all leaders—church, governments, homes, schools, and community. I pray especially for President-elect Barack Obama and his family. May every leader seek your wisdom, and understand so that we can live in peace and prosperity. Give President-elect Obama a heart for righteousness that he may lead this nation from your heart, and raise the American standard as symbol of light in the world.
I pray this prayer believing according to Mark 11:24 and I John 5:14-15, and with thanksgiving in Jesus’ Name. I declare it done…for your glory. Amen.
