Prayer for the Bereaved

The pain of separation can seem unbearable when a loving family member or close friends dies. The human emotions are like riding a roller coaster. The grieving process for each individual is different and one person's response or reaction is often misunderstood and/or misinterpreted. The greatest need is for peace and comfort to get through the difficult time of sorrow. And so, we pray...

Heavenly Father, Creator of the heavens and earth--Giver and Sustainer of all life. When deaths make the clarion call whether suddenly or over the course of time, it is never easy to accept or deal with. But according to Your word in 2 Corinthians 1:3, You are the God of all Comfort, and so we ask You to comfort the bereaved now facing the inevitable--a loved one's transition from life to eternity. I pray that they would experience Your peace that only You can give to carry them through the grieving process. May they experience Your Presence and know that You are a faithful and loving God who cares about everything that concerns every individual.

Let the warmth of Your Holy Spirit blanket the heart of those who are feeling the chilling affects of death. May they experience the reality of Your grace and feel the freshness of Your Sprit that revives the soul and lifts the spirit within.

Let the praise of Your name be exalted even in the most sorrowful times as You bless bereaved families and friends to know the truth--Jesus Christ, is Savior of the world bore our sorrows and carried our griefs, and resurrected himself from the dead so that we can live victoriously by casting all our cares upon Him.

PRAYER FOR FATHERS

Our heavenly Father, how great, awesome and powerful You are! We honor and reverence Your holiness, and confess that we can only come to You through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. We thank you for His blood and that we have access to Your throne of grace through faith in Christ.

Father, today I come to You on behalf of fathers everywhere. As the celebration of fatherhood approaches, let us be mindful of the role fathers play in the lives of their children. I pray for fortitude and favor; for strength and courage to overcome the challenges of life. Let men of integrity rise up and give you praise, honor and glory.

Father God, I ask that fathers would seek Your face, repent, and chase hard after Your heart as they lead in their homes, churches, schools and communities. I ask that You raise up godly men who are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes according to Romans 1:16.

Heavenly Father, I pray for a harvest of souls into the Kingdom. Let salvation come to fathers around the world, and especially in this nation; may they come to know Your Son Jesus the Christ as Savior and Lord. I ask that You send laborers into the harvest; send revelation through the Holy Spirit that they would acknowledge their need for a relationship with You through faith in Christ. Let there be a spirit of repentance as the Holy Spirit convicts of sin and unrighteousness.

Lord God, where there is division, deception and lies in homes and among family members, let the anointing of Your Holy Spirit of Truth bring unity and truth. I pray for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

Where there is hatred, let there be love; where there is injustice and unrighteousness, let there be equity and uprightness of heart.

May the refreshing wind of Your Spirit blow upon the soul of fathers who are weary in well doing. I declare and decree an atmospheric shift in the spirit; let the latter rain fall fresh and restore broken hearts. God, send a revival!

I speak against depression and the spirit of oppression. Let there be financial release to meet needs of families so that fathers will not succumb to temptations and be ensnared by an unjust judicial system. I pray that righteousness would reign in homes, schools, churches, communities, cities, and this Nation.

I specifically ask, Father, that You would turn the heart of the fathers toward their sons and daughters. I speak against unforgiveness, bitterness and anger that have torn families apart. I pull down strongholds caused by sexual sins and immorality.

I declare and decree that that the light of Your Word will penetrate the darkness as the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed. Oh, God! Let deliverance come to those held captive by past sins and mistakes. Open their eyes that they may see Your goodness and mercy.

Father, I pray also for the children that they would learn to honor their fathers, and respect them according to Your Word. I pray for restoration and reconciliation among men everywhere, let cultural walls of indifference crumble. Finally, I pray that Your kingdom would come and Your will be done in earth as it is heaven. LORD GOD ALMIGHTY thank You that I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Journalists in North Korea

With heartbreaking news, no doubt what everyone feared has happened. However, now is not the time to give up; miracles do happen! Therefore, this is the time to be specific in our prayers for a miracle. The words of scripture resounds in my ear, "...with God nothing is impossible..." These are times for the power of God Almighty to be manifested in the global events. These are praying times to invoke God's sovereign intervention into the affairs and lives of men. And of course, He intervenes by invitation. Will you pray with me on behalf of Laura Ling and Euna Lee?

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the privilege of prayer; asking you to intervene in our affairs. LORD GOD, I believe your holy word and noted above, that with you nothing is impossible. You are sovereign; all power over heaven and earth are in your hands. There's no man that can counsel you regarding your creation, nor usurp authority over your purposes or plans.

Father, I come to you on behalf of Laura and Euna that have been unjustly sentenced to imprisonment in a foreign land. You are a God of justice, righteousness, and compassion; I rely on your faithfulness, sovereignty, unfailing love and mercy to hear the prayers of your people when we pray believing your word. Father, we're praying on behalf of these two young women. May your loving Presence cover them now. Let angels encamp around them to protect them, and preserve their life. May your divine favor surround them like a shield. May the Holy Spirit of comfort cover them as a blanket that keeps them warm from the chilling fears of heartless violators of freedom. I pray for the family and loved ones that are worried about their safety and conditons. Father, I pray for a breakthrough in communication and diplomacy between the U.S., other allies and N.K. You and You alone have the power to turn the hearts of men. Let the manisfestation of your power be revealed so that Your name is glorified among the nations of the world.

Bring Laura and Euna back home to America safely and quickly, to their families. We activate the "rules of engagement" in the realm of Spirit to dismantle satanic and diabolical assignments, and to expose hidden agendas to endanger the innocent. We declare that no weapon formed against Laura and Euno will prosper. And from this ordeal, I pray that your purpose will prevail; Your kingdom come and Your will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Show Yourself mighty through those who will be mediators working to resolve this situation in a civil manner. I sealed this prayer in the Blood of the Lamb, and in the Matchless Name of Jesus the Christ. Amen

Prayer for Air France Tragedy

Tragedy, loss of loved ones, family and friends, all too often remind me of how fragile life is, and that I should cherish every moment by living like it may be my last day on earth. Reality? It could be! I just don't believe that the 200+ passengers on Air France flight 447 boarded that plane thinking they'd never make it to their destination. However, that is the uncertainty that every day brings. I'm learning to see everyday as an opportunity to seize the moment to enjoy life in simple ways by loving family, helping others, simply being nice, and being grateful for everything small or great.

Once again, the world faces a tragic reality of life, and when limitation outweigh abilities I choose to pray, believing that God cares and hears my prayers for comfort and peace in difficult times. So I pray...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the privelege of prayer, the gifts of faith and grace. So I come to you on behalf of those suffering from the pain of separation. Father, you know our limitations, our fears, and our weaknesses and inadequacies to cope with such loss. Therefore, we rely on you; your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Comfort us and give us peace for these devastating occurrences. Help us to reflect on the memorable events of life with family and friends rather than images of the last minutes of life.

May your Holy Spirit safeguard the heart and mind of family and friends, and empower them to handle transactions and affairs with a sense of calm and peace. May your lovingkindess and mercy become a reality in the heart of unbelievers, and may something good come out of pain and tragedy. Hear our prayer as we pray in the powerful name of Jesus Christ your Son, and in all things may your name be glorified. Amen.
